CAT 2013 Analysis - Day 15 - 5th November

CAT 2013 Analysis - Day 15 - 5th November

It is already 18 days since the online CAT 2013 has started and till now the experience of most of the candidates with this year's online CAT has been depressing. Barring few all are saying that their this year's performance was not up to their expectation or more precisely preparation level.

The Candidates that are lined up to take their online CAT 2013 exam in the upcoming slots would have till now zeroed in on their strategy to take up this year's CAT. Obviously now everyone is surely clear that the paper that they are going to face would be difficult if they are lucky and if they are unlucky it may be very difficult. In this scenario some will say that normalization is there but GOD knows how this normalization works and how can this normalization differentiate between candidates that have made 40 or 40 plus attempts out of 60 and those who are only able to make 30 or less attempts out of 60.

CAT 2013 Analysis - 5th November - Day 15 - Section 1

Quantitative Aptitude and Data Interpretation

As usual this section was tough as expected. There was no respite for aspirants, however in this slot around 3 to 4 questions were found to be very easy. Games and Tournaments Case lets were seen in the Data Interpretation Section. Around 4 questions were from functions and 5 questions from Geometry and Coordinate  Geometry. 3 Questions were from Number System and 1 Questions from Permutation and Combination. 2 Questions from Inequalities were also present in the paper and as seen in previous slot experiences of CAT one Data Interpretation Case-let was very calculation intensive.

So any attempts in excess of 15 will be considered to be very good if you have maintained accuracy in your attempts.

If you have attempted 20 questions in this section with not more than 2 wrong you will definitely score in excess of 99 percentile in this section.

If you have attempted 25 questions in this section with not more than 2 wrong you will definitely score in excess of 99.80 percentile in this section.

If you have attempted 15 questions in this section with not more than 2 wrong you will score in excess of 93.80 percentile in this section.

CAT 2013 Analysis - 5th November - Day 15 - Section 2

Verbal Ability and Logical Reasoning

Out of the 3 Logical Reasoning Case-lets that were seen by students in this paper, 2 were very difficult and one was easy. All the three LR Case-lets had three questions each. If you have attempted two LR Case-lets with 100 percent accuracy within 30 to 35 minutes than you can say that your performance in this section was good.

Verbal Ability Questions in this section were a life saver. Their were 12 Verbal Ability questions out of which eight could have been attempted with 99 percent accuracy even if you have an average vocab knowledge and are good at logic as the questions were of contextual type.

Coming to Reading Comprehension Passages. There were 3 passages containing 3 questions each. There were 2 questions in which the tone of the passage was asked. One passage was of the spiritual type and was very complex and tricky and difficult to solve. Rest two passages were solvable. So if you have attempted two passages in Reading Comprehension Section with around 70 to 80 percent accuracy than we can say this to be a good performance. 70 to 80 percent accuracy here means that out of 6 attempted questions of Reading Comprehension 4 or 5 are correct and 2 or 1 are wrong.

Cumulative attempts in excess of 20 with considerable accuracy would be considered to be good.

If you have attempted 20 questions in this section with not more than 2 wrong you will definitely score in excess of 98 percentile in this section.

If you have attempted 25 questions in this section with not more than 2 wrong you will definitely score in excess of 99 percentile in this section.

If you have attempted 15 questions in this section with not more than 2 wrong you will score in excess of 93 percentile in this section.

Overall 40 attempts out of 60 with not more than 4 or 5 wrong can help you in materializing your IIM dream this year.
