12:05 pm - Here is the analysis of SSC CGL 2014 TIER 1 EXAM (19TH OCTOBER 2014) Morning Shift
Any ways coming back to the point. The difficulty level of this years SSC CGL 2014 Tier 1 Exam was slightly higher than the previous year Tier 1 paper of SSC CGL 2013. Last year SSC CGL TIER 1 paper was very easy however this time it was not the case and many candidates found it difficult to attempt more than 125 questions. So cut offs are definitely expected to shoot down. Obviously some exceptional candidates also appear every year whose attempts with accuracy are in the range of 150 to 180 but we do not need to be exceptional for clearing this paper. Hard work with dedication and temperament is enough to get us through. So if any one is bragging to you that the paper was very easy and they have attempted around 140 to 150 questions and all the questions are correct and blah blah blah blah.....Do not listen to them. Desperate people in order to flaunt there talent (which they do not have) will brag in front of you. Strict Warning - Do not listen to them.
Now let us have a section wise look at the paper -
Section 1 - Quantitative Aptitude(SSC CGL 2014 TIER 1 (19th Oct 2014) Analysis and Estimated Cut Offs) Morning Shift -
Around 15 to 20 questions in this section were very easy. So the first strategy of the successful candidate would be to identify those questions and solve them first because they will take less time and will increase your confidence in order to solve the other questions of this section. Around 15 questions were easy but time taking. They were of the conventional type but required some amount of calculation which would have taken some amount of time to solve. Around 10 to 15 questions of this section were difficult and in order to solve we need to have good command over the basics of maths in order to crack them quick. 40 attempts with accuracy would a good performance in this section.
Section 2 - Reasoning(SSC CGL 2014 TIER 1 (19th Oct 2014) Analysis and Estimated Cut Offs) Morning Shift -
Reasoning this year was as usual. There was not much difference in the difficulty level of SSC CGL 2012, 2013 and 2014 Tier 1 in the reasoning section. 40 attempts with good accuracy is a good performance in this section.
Section 3 - General Knowledge(SSC CGL 2014 TIER 1 (19th Oct 2014) Analysis and Estimated Cut Offs) Morning Shift -
Not very easy and also not very difficult. As the marking is - 1/4 some amount of chances can be taken in this section. Any score in excess of 20 in this section would be considered as good and if you are able to score more than 25 number in this section it will provide you an added leverage.
Section 4 - English Language and Comprehension(SSC CGL 2014 TIER 1 (19th Oct 2014) Analysis and Estimated Cut Offs) Morning Shift -
According to me this section of SSC CGL is scoring. Whenever I have attempted SSC CGL I have always attempted all 50 questions of this section. The comprehension passages were not as easy this year as they were in SSC CGL 2013 TIER 1 RE-EXAM. Grammatical Error finding questions were of moderate difficulty level. Any attempt above 40 with accuracy is a good performance in this section.
Overall Estimated Cut Offs for SSC CGL 2014 TIER 1 Exam (19th October 2014) Morning Shift -

General Category - 90 to 95
OBC Category - 80 to 85

Ex Serviceman - 60 to 65
Paper Analysis and Estimated Cut offs of SSC CGL TIER 1 2014 Evening Session of 19th October 2014 -
For the evening shift I would not write section wise analysis as it would be not of much use as the sectional performance assessment is almost the same and for me the cut off prediction for the evening paper is almost identical to the morning shift. In some quarters students are saying that the evening paper was very easy compared to the morning paper and in others they are saying that the morning paper was more easy than the evening one. For me I have an opinion that both the papers were of almost same difficulty level but not identical. There was a slight difference in the difficulty level of the paper but I would not like to specifically mention whether the morning or evening paper was more difficult because either of my statement would create an apprehension among many students. SSC always has the habit of manipulating difficulty levels across various sections and different students have different strong areas which influence their performance across various questions sets. However I am open to solve any of your specific query. You can drop query in comment section below. According to me -

ReplyDeleteP.n.kumar
Sir i can notice that evening session aptitude was easy compared to morning session... how does ssc justify such cases
ReplyDeleteI gave paper on 19th october, 2014 evening session. I secured 106.25 General category. what are my chances?
ReplyDeleteHi, Good analysis. I have appeared for the ssc and it was good experience. I was in the evening section, keeping in mind that there is sectional cutoff, i have attempted 27 in reasoing, 31 in GK, 29 in maths, 41 in english. I have taken care for higher accuracy, is it good enough? i am worried for reasoning and maths sections as they were scoring and i couldn't complete the sections.
ReplyDelete92.5 cl keys. General category.
ReplyDeleteAny chance?
can you plz.provide question paper.i am appearing on 26 of oct
ReplyDeleteno p.s.kumar you are a born talent.. u r born with a brahmastra.. you need not to do anthing.. you will clear all the exams.. you just need to go and attempt the paper..
ReplyDeleterespected sir ur analysis is very nice and accurate.i m very happy that like this teacher we r getting.
ReplyDeletesir now ssc is doing very bad things.today they printed whole paper in red colour.in that colour i couldnt find out where is written for visually handicapped section and i solved that section of reasoning.after solving when i found that i wrongly solved vh section.i become depress in exam and i left 15 question untouched in reasoning those questions i left very easy questions.
always ssc is writing this visually handicaped in big letter but today in exam they wronte in small letter.
it is my last chance as i m general and crossed 27 years.
why ssc is doing like this why ssc cant make different papers for vissually handicap.now ssc is doing only formalty.they r not taking care students.sir it hurts a lot who lost his last chance for very negligent issue.
At last i m getting 93 numbers in general category.now i m confused what i shud do.shud i prepare for main or not i m confused.
plz guide me and send me condolation to my email id 1astitan@gmail.com
i shud not complain ssc bcoz i know all faults is in me but some faults of others looks big for a man.
at 97 marks in General Category you will cross the line.....
ReplyDelete330 marks in general category prelims and mains you have chances of getting tax assistant....
ReplyDelete390 plus in SSC CGL 2013 there are some chances of getting railways ministry.....
ReplyDeletevishal I think at 130 marks you should not ask this question....
ReplyDeletethasni k you definitely stand a chance of clearing prelims at 84 marks in OBC Category as in SSC CGL 2013 REEXAM TIER 1 the paper was very easy and cut off of OBC was 85.....so this time with slightly higher difficulty level than what it was previous time the cut offs are expected to come down....so start your ssc cgl tier 2 2014 exam preparation.......ALL THE BEST.....
ReplyDeleteVS can not comment on the dates of Tier 2.....Even don't believe what people are predicting to be tier 2 dates...wait for official declaration of tier 2 dates...till then carry on your preparation without any anxiety.....
ReplyDeletePN Kumar at 75 marks in SC Category I think you are not out of the race....You never know the cut offs...keep studying...you have chances of clearing Tier 1......
ReplyDelete106.25 you will for tier 2....start your preparation for tier 2.....
ReplyDelete27 in reasoing, 31 in GK, 29 in maths, 41 in english........ I think with accuracy this much amount of attempts are good enough to get you through....
ReplyDeletemike 20......92.50 General Category.....yours is a border case....may be or may not be.....
ReplyDeletebro am around 85.75 in the OBC category...so what are my chances??

ReplyDeleteSir, On 19th October 2014,CGL 2014 Tier-I Morning Paper was very tough as compared to evening paper. This is not fair. Level of paper is required to be same. SSC must consider separate Cut of Marks for morning and evening session keeping in view difficult morning session paper.

ReplyDeleteExpected cut offs are written in blog post.....
ReplyDelete@Prashant Singh even if you are from General Category at 97 marks you would qualify for Tier 2 so start preparing for it right now......dont waste too much speculating cut offs....check your score from the official SSC keys and if your score is above 95 in UR start preparing for TIER 2......
ReplyDelete330 IN SSC CGL 2013 you may get Tax Assistant.....
ReplyDeleteSir,i think iwill secure 125marks in tier 1 2014 in GEN (cat) what marks should I have to secure in tier 2 so that I can get ITI...
ReplyDeletei disagree with ur article.because last year paper was easy and still cutoff for st was 69.this year paper was tough u have given 70-75.change it.cutoff will be 60-65 for st
ReplyDeletesir mera cgl 14 ka score 68 to 70 ke bich me he. kya mai all post ke liye qualify ho jaunga?agar nahi to tax assistant ke liye to ho jaunga ya nahi? aur mai sc candidate hu. plz tell me

ReplyDelete@Ajay Sharma buddy what happened with you has happened with a lot of other candidates.....One friend of mine...she came out of the exam centre totally frustrated and dejected.....she did the same mistake solving questions that were for VH candidates...anyways...
ReplyDeleteAjay your score of 93 is good and I think you would definitely qualify for Tier 2 not only in Tax Assistant but also in interview posts.....do not worry......after checking from official keys even if your score is 90 plus start preparing for tier 2.....
atlast found a blog where u can get a proper ans for your ques ...
ReplyDeleteI am pretty sure that i'll clear the prelims ...
i really want to ask you that what is the " cushion score for getting a post of Assistant in MEA "
please do reply soon ...
thanks in advance :)
Arun at 85.75 in OBC Category you are 100 percent selected for TIER 2......start your preparation for tier 2........
ReplyDeleteaayilya I have predicted 90 to 95 cut offs to be on the safe side...at your score of 94 i think you would surely qualify for tier 2.......cut offs for general category can even go low upto 85 because at the same difficulty level of SSC CGL 2012 the cut off was 82.....after checking from official keys please confirm your score once more to me........and if it is 90 plus start your preparation of tier and if this is not your last attempt then start right now.......
ReplyDeleteno ssc will not normalise the marks across various sets.....
ReplyDeletewhatever job choice you have filled first you will get that.......it can not be changed......
ReplyDelete@apurva soni you have made a blunder....at the top of the OMR sheet it is clearly written that blue/black ball point pen only....
ReplyDeletehowever if your bubbles are properly darkened I think they would evaluate your OMR.....but can not be sure about that.....
70 in sc category.any chance???????

ReplyDeleteThanks for the upload Sir. i totally agree with you. But i guess for the question No. 9 of 000NH1 i guess the answer should be (b) because only this word is a pallindrome. All the others are simple words.
ReplyDeleteAnyways thanks a lot for this f9 analysis.
Level of 26th oct 2014 is easy ... As compared to 19th oct 2014... What is this...n how cut off will be decided.. I am gettng 115 marks and frm genrl category ... Pls help n tell me ... Now what will be the cut off .. Thanks

ReplyDelete73 in obc category do i stand a chance for tier 2
ReplyDeletehow much gap would be there in the tier1 and tier2 exam of SSC CGL 2014 is a difficult question to answer.....the paper is still to be conducted at many other places....and the interviews of SSC CGL 2013 have not started yet.....so even if we expect the results of ssc cgl tier 1 2014 by December end than also the tier 2 of ssc cgl 2014 would be held somewhere around march april 2015......
ReplyDeleteSahil at 87 to 89 marks in OBC Category you will 100 percent qualify for tier 2....so immediately start preparing for tier 2 exam......the cut offs of ssc cgl 2014 tier 1 for OBC category at any cost would not exceed 80 marks in my personal opinion.......
ReplyDeleteNo sectional cut offs to qualify in SSC CGL 2014 TIER 1 EXAM.....104 marks OBC you are definitely selected for TIER 2 ...Start your preparation....
ReplyDelete350 SC Category 2014.......we can speculate anything at this point of time as we do not know anything about the difficulty level of tier 2.....
ReplyDelete@GAJE manisha BOORA Boora Brother at 402 marks in general category you would definitely get interview post......but we can not be sure about whether you will get Ministry of Railways or not......
ReplyDeleteSir there are plenty of errors in your answer key. Please do not post this type of flawed answer keys, as it may create depression among aspirants...
ReplyDeleteShivam at 83 in OBC you have real high chances of qualifying for tier 2.....
ReplyDeleteSumit Snehal at 97 I would say even a general category candidate is safe..... You in OBC at this score is sure shot selected for TIER 2......
ReplyDelete250 SC Category in Tier 1 and Tier 2 in SSC CGL 2013 ....Sorry to say but it is difficult to manage posts at this score....
ReplyDelete@Samantha Dhookudu check your score from official SSC keys when they are out and tell me the score you got then......
ReplyDeleteNeethu the answer of your question will depend on the difficulty level of papers that we are going to see in tier 2....... please do not be too ambitious if the paper of SSC CGL 2014 TIER 2 is difficult.....ANY thing regarding the final cut offs can be said only after seeing the difficulty level of both Tier 2 and Tier 1 questions papers....A tier 1 is difficult if tier 2 is also difficult then you need to score a lot less.....
ReplyDelete305 in ssc cgl 2013.....what is ur cat?
ReplyDelete@Urvashi Kumari - Yes you will get non interview post if you are not able to pass interview.....however at this score in my opinion you should not care about nip as you can get the best of interview posts at this score if you perform decently well in tier 2 exam.....
ReplyDeleteNitin at 90 marks in ST Category you are surely selected for tier 2.....start preparing for tier 2 immediately.....
ReplyDeleteMathan sorry to say buddy chances are less for interview posts but you may get Tax Assistant......
ReplyDeleteevening session papers are already provided on ssc-cgl2014.in
ReplyDelete@aparna s - at 340 marks in OBC you have very good chances of getting selected for interview....NIP is 100 percent sure......
ReplyDeleteHi Sir,
ReplyDeleteI wrote the SSC cgl tier-1 exam on 19-10-2014(Evening session).I evaluated my answers with the keys and found few discrepancies with PART-1 answers.

a) STATION b) NATION c) MOTION d) MOUTH.
According to answer keys, answer is A but right answer must be C.
Please comment.
Q20. If a number is greater than 5 but less than 9 and greater than 7 but less than 11, the number is:
a) 5 b) 6 c) 7 d)8
Answer key given : B
But in the question, its clearly mentioned number greater than 7. So the obvious answer should be 8(option d)
Q14. Arrange the words as per the dictionary
1. Euphrasy 2. Eupepsy
3. Euphonic 4. Eugenic
5. Euphony
Answer key given: D (3,5,2,4,1)
Obvious that "Eug" appears first in dictionary before any of "Eup".
So answer should be C (4,2,3,5,1)
Please comment and let me know if this hold good. Thanks in advance.

Sir, you did not reply to my question.
ReplyDeletea) autobiography
b) malayalam
c) intelligence
d) dictionary
I guess the answer should be Malayalam because this word is a pallindrome I.e. If u read it from start or from, end it is the same. I guess u could give some insight on it.

ReplyDeleteHi Harshit,
ReplyDeleteI appeared in SSC CGL 2014 exam held on 19th october (morning shift). While filling up the information on OMR sheet a made a mistake (a stupid one). I filled up the Ticket number incorrectly (only one digit). Later i rectified this by removing the pulp on the sheet (the thinner upper part of that single oval). However, it was not erased completely.
1. Will they evaluate my answer sheet?
2. Is there anything i could do so that my answer sheet is evaluated?
This was my first and last opportunity for me to appear in this exam. Please reply.
Great thanks- Manish
when answer keys will be available on ssc official site?
