26th October Newspaper Notes - Reyhaneh Jabbari, Anagarika Dharampala Stamp Launched, MNREGA Karnataka Quota, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and Housing for All by 2022 targets, Indian Army Wives Agitation Group

1. In Iran a woman named Reyhaneh Jabbari has been hanged for the crime of saving herself by killing a former intelligence officer who was alleged of trying to sexually assault Reyhaneh.

2. A stamp commemorating Anagarika Dharampala was released by President Pranab Mukherjee. Anagarika Dharampala was a Buddhist writer of Sri Lankan nationality. He is credited with the revival of Buddhism Religion in India. He was also a contributor to Sinhalese Buddhist Nationalism. 

He was born on 17th September 1864 and died on 29th April 1933.

3. Karnataka quota of MNREGA cut by Rs. 1400 crore – Karnataka's share of MNREGA in the year 2014-15 has been cut from Rs. 3151.76 crore to Rs. 1717 crores.

4. Priority for women in Governmental schemes –

(i) Under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan the Central Government will aid in setting up of -

(a) 104.1 lakh house hold toilets
(b) 2.52 lakh community toilets 
(c) 2.56 lakh public toilets 
(d) 30.6 crore people will be provided the facility of Solid Waste Management in the form of units for the same.

(ii) Under the Housing for All by 2022, Housing and Poverty Alleviation Ministry will provide accommodation on a rental basis for migrant and homeless workers in urban areas. The Ministry will give priority to households headed by women by providing them a rebate of 10% in the rent paid by them. For eg. If A momal household pays a rent of Rs. 1000/ month and women headed household will pay a rent of Rs. 900/ month

5. Indian Army Wives Agitation Group has been made by wives of Army officers is campaigning by requesting PM Narendra Modi to remove outdated defence equipment from use.
