Time Work and Wages Basics, Fraction Percentage and LCM Method, Comparing Efficiency Video Lecture

Dear friends in this video I have started with the topic of Time and Work. I have explained three ways of dealing with problems which we see in Time and Work. The first is the percentage method, then comes the fraction method and finally the Least Common Multiple Method. The same example has been explained and solved by me using all the three methods and I have through relation shown that these three are basically the same, only the way of solving is different. Then I have told that we normally should not use percentage method for solving questions and in most of the questions we would use fraction and LCM method to solve the questions as they are the most convenient and easy to understand. I have also told that the wages or total amount of money will be distributed among the participants in accordance with the fraction of work they had done in the whole work. Then I also have taken up and explained cases in which we have to compare the efficiency of different individuals to complete the same work. These types of questions are very confusing and are easily solvable when we are clear with regard to concepts.

While explaining these concepts I have used appropriate question so that your understanding of solving questions can be improved simultaneously. The questions discussed are listed below -

Question 1. X and Y together can do a piece of work in 18 days, Y and Z in 24 days, Z and X in 36 days. How many days will it take if all of them work together ??

Question 2. M and N can do a job in 12 days, N and P can do it in 16 days. After M has worked for 5 days and N has worked for 7 days, P can finish the rest in 13 days. In how many days can P do the work alone ??

Question 3. Amit and Rupali can do a job in 8 days and 12 days respectively. If they work on alternate days with Amit working on the first day, in how many days will the work be finished ??

Question 4. Machines M1 and M2 produce 8000 clips in 4 hours and 6 hours respectively. The machines work in alternate hours. If M1 starts first, then how much time will be required to produce 8000 clips ??

Question 5. X, Y and Z can complete a job in 10 days, working together. But only two of them can work together at a time. If all of them work for the same number of days with equal efficiency, how many days would each one have worked for when the job is completed ?

Question 6. Ram can do a piece of work, working alone in 6 days and Shyam alone can do it in 8 days. Ram and Shyam do it for Rs. 640 with the help of Sita, they finished it in 3 days. How much was paid to Sita ??

Question 7. X is thrice as efficient as Y and Y is twice is efficient as Z. If X,Y and Z work together, how long will they take to complete a job which Y completes in 10 days ??
