What does Probity In Governance mean ??

Probity in Governance means complete and confirmed integrity in governance which is a prerequisite for effective system of governance and socio economic development.

Measures needed to be taken are as follows –

(a) Menace of corruption needs to be removed by following “the Seven Principles of Public Life” to be followed by citizens, lawmakers and law implementers equally. These principles are – Selflessness, Integrity, Objectivity, Accountability, Openness, Honesty, Leadership.

(b) Improper and Unlawful execution of an act that in itself is unlawful and improper should be avoided and the attitude of nepotism should be checked.

(c) A law for the confiscation of illegally acquired assets of public servants should be made.

(d) Public Interest Disclosure Act popularly known as Whistle Blower Act with adequate safeguards for the security of the Whistleblower should be formulated.

(e) Formulation of Civil Services Board in every state is a very effective step guaranteeing the tenure of civil servant in a particular position reducing the scope of political interference. 

(f) Criminal tracking and Judicial system should be strengthened and integrated.

(g) Amendments in RTI Act, Lokpal Bill Act and Central Vigilance Commission Act should be made to make them more strong and effective.
